Signs in the Sea is a project that pays homage to the uplifting Americana, blues, instrumental guitar, and folk rock music that largely shaped acoustic and electric guitar music over the last 4 decades and colors them with alternative sounds. Joe Schwankl plays acoustic guitar, electric guitar and slide guitar with some new variations on alternate tunings--and the tunes range in style broadly from good driving R&B music to ambient acoustic tones for quiet times.  With special guests including L.A. composer and guitarist Steve Hampton and singer Kayley Blaze Nuzum.   This music is about a depth of feeling; it is about capturing transformational moments and fleeting human emotions and representing them in music.
